Most days, I swear by a supply of affordable, effective, and reusable microfiber towels to help clean up my kitchen, bathroom, car, and windows. But I admit, I still often reach for a napkin.
Yes, I know this isn’t the most eco-friendly option in the cleaning world. But there are jobs where I dry off things I don’t want to throw in the wash with my pajamas and jeans, like bacon grease, drippings of raw meat, sticky nut butters and jams, red wine, or oil splatters and spills. Luckily, social media sometimes knows me better than I know myself, and when my For You page featured a great cleaning tool for 2023, I knew I had found my new kitchen cleaning best friend.
I first discovered a simple standing paper towel holder with sprayer in February 2023, when Claire Edwards (@theclairenecessities) introduced her followers to the “star of her latest cooking video”—and the paper towel holder cost $70. I know $70 is a lot for a paper towel holder.
But please stay with me. I was skeptical at first, but after watching Claire’s demo and watching other TikToks about this tool, I realized it’s pure genius. In fact, this may be the most elegant paper towel holder I’ve ever come across in my 37 years on this planet. Besides what you might guess (holding a roll of paper towels), it has some great extra features.
At first glance, the first two are obvious: the balanced tensioner arms provide enough resistance that I can easily tear off pieces of the selected roll size as needed – with one hand, without having to unroll the entire roll. Second, the hook and loop on the top of the center knitting needle makes it easy to carry paper towels into messy areas—all you need is your index finger.
But I haven’t gotten to the best yet. The real magic is hidden in this central column. From here on out, the $70 price seems like a bargain. With the press of a button, you’ll discover a hidden 6-ounce spray pump designed to continuously dispense a fine cleaning spray. To use this feature, I simply add multi-surface cleaning tablets to the reservoir and add water. Once the tablets dissolve, this amount will last for over 100 sprays. The brand says this all-purpose cleaner is safe for all household surfaces, and I’ve had great success using it on everything from granite to stainless steel to glass refrigerator shelves.
This ingenious paper towel holder comes in four stainless steel colors – black, brass, matte and white – so it will suit any kitchen decor. I love that it looks like a regular old paper towel holder, but it’s so much better.
While you may still think that $70 is too much for a paper towel holder, I have to say: this may be the best $70 I’ve ever spent.
